When you depart from your country, you can fly non-stop or Transit (transiting) via a certain airport before coming to Japan. With many airlines flying near any Japanese airport, you will be given a paper for immigration procedures and customs declarations for you to fill out information in advance. When you arrive at the airport, just submit to the customs officer, so it will save time to fill information. Of course for those who already have experience, nothing too difficult. For first-time visitors to Japan or the first time to any airport in Japan, it may take a bit longer.
